How to reference sources (mandatory)

Reference in print, online, video and/or PowerPoint

PRINTING:
In printed matter, references are placed in the colophon. If a colophon has to reference multiple names and there's not enough space, state the most important name and suffix this with e.a. (et al). If there is no colophon, the reference should be directly below the image. Beware, there could be other makers with reference rights besides a photographer.
For colophons in printed matter, this information is usually presented in the following order:
- Publication Eindhoven University of Technology
- Compilation Communications Expertise Center (possibly 'in collaboration with...')
- Photography first and last name photographer or photographers
- Interviews and/or by-line (if any) ...
- Design and/or layout Name design agency
- Print Name printing company
- © Eindhoven University of Technology, month and year
- ISBN/ISSN (if any)

WEBSITE:
The Eindhoven University of Technology website has no general colophon. If a photographer or stock agency requests reference, the university has to meet this request.
On a website, the place for reference is:
1. Directly below an image;
2. Below the text accompanying an image;
3. In the alt-text of the image (this is the text that appears when you mouse click the image).

VIDEO PRODUCTION:

When images are used in a video production, reference a photographer or stock agency in the end credits.

POWERPOINT:
When images (photographs, videos or illustrations) are used in a PowerPoint presentation, the maker's name must be referenced in one of the final sheets under the title/heading: Special thanks to ...
